Try Our Favorite Argentinian Dishes For San Diego Restaurant Week

We love San Diego Restaurant Week, both for giving local foodies a chance to explore all the wonderful cuisine of San Diego restaurants, and for giving local restaurants a chance to show off a little!

At Puerto La Boca, we're proud to celebrate San Diego Restaurant Week by offering several of our favorite Argentinian dishes on special with either two course lunch menus, and three course dinners. Guests are invited to choose from a variety of dishes representative of our authentic Argentinian experience. Here are just a few.

Appetizers

During our first course with either lunch or dinner, Puerto La Boca features a variety of salads and seafood dishes including Pulpo La Ribera — a marinated octopus served with olive oil, garlic, parsley, potatoes and paprika. We add a couple of Argentinian favorites during dinner service, when choices include our customer-favorite Empanadas, and mouth watering Chorizo sausage.

Pastas

We may be an authentic Argentinian steakhouse, but it's not all steaks at Puerto La Boca. Argentinian culinary tradition includes a strong Italian heritage as well as Spanish. That's why our San Diego Restaurant Week lunch service includes homemade cannellonis filled with spinach, mozzarella & ricotta cheese, and Ravioles “Mabel” — raviolis filled with beef or ricotta cheese in a fresh tomato sauce with garlic & basil.

Entraña

Known as skirt steak in the US, Entraña is an Argentinian classic, which is why it leads the menu of steaks offered during lunch and dinner main courses. Known for its deep flavors and toothsome textures, our Entraña goes great with Chimichurri sauce, of course!

Picana

The true test of an Argentinian steakhouse may be the Picana, or culotte steak, better known in English as the top sirloin. A favorite of North Argentina, the flavorful cut of beef cooks beautifully on a parilla, the Argentinian grill that slow cooks the firm cut of beef to perfection. At Puerto La Boca, we top ours with Roquefort cream cheese sauce and three tiger shrimp.

Lomo con Hongos

Offered during our dinner course for San Diego Restaurant Week, Lomo con Hongos is what Argentinians might call filet mignon with mushrooms. Lomo is a famous Argentinian cut of the tenderloin so tender it may famously be cut with a spoon! We prepare it with a sauce made with porcini mushrooms and Malbec wine for maximum delectability.

Desserts

The best reason to visit for dinner would be our desserts! Our classic Panqueque con Dulce de leche con helado can be a mouthful to say, and it will definitely provide many sweet mouthfuls of enjoyment as part of our San Diego Restaurant Week dinner menu. We fill a homemade crepe with Argentinian caramel, then flambé it alongside some cold vanilla ice cream. If chocolate's on your mind, Tarta de Chocolate con Helado lets you pair that ice cream with a decadent chocolate mousse pie.
