Celebrate Mother's Day at Puerto La Boca in Little Italy
Celebrate by Taking Mom Out for a Special Mother’s Day Meal
Mother’s Day 2018 is coming up fast, and like every year, the best way to celebrate is by taking mom out for a special Mother’s Day meal. And in San Diego, a special meal means taking mom to Little Italy. And by special, of course, we mean a meal at Little Italy’s resident Argentinian steakhouse, Puerto La Boca!
When is Mother’s Day?
Every year, Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May, and in 2018 that means Mother’s Day will be celebrated on May 13th. Because it’s a time for everyone to show love and appreciation to their moms, restaurants can get very busy. It’s always recommended to make reservations in Little Italy, San Diego, and especially when it is Mother’s Day!
We’ll open one hour early
To make up for the long lines you’ll find at every brunch restaurant on Mother’s Day, we’ll be opening our doors at noon, which is one hour early! You’ll want to skip the eggs anyway when you see our menu, especially the From the Grill and Old Favorites section! Here’s where you’ll find a list of Argentina’s most famous grilled meats. If you love the rich flavor and hearty texture of skirt steak, look no further than our signature Entraña. If you simply adore tender steak, try the Lomo; it’s the most tender filet mignon you’ll ever taste, served with a delicious Malbec reduction.
A family-style Mother’s Day dinner
We stay open all day until 8:30 pm, so you may enjoy a family style dinner whether you traditionally do so in the early afternoon, or any time throughout the evening. We do it Argentine style, and always recommend sampling from the grilled, all-natural beef options on our special, Meant To Be Shared menu. These meaty meals provide an apt introduction to Argentinian cuisine. Consider, for example, our Parrillada "El Conventillo.” Inspired by the community barbecues shared in Spanish and Italian tenements of Buenos Aires, it features a sampling of several different cuts of beef, plus chicken, sausages, and sweetbreads.
Start every meal right
Begin your meal with Bread and Chimichurri, and other selections from our Starters menu. Everybody loves our empanadas, for example. The traditional meat and vegetable hand pies are a cultural specialty, and we make them in a homemade fashion. You may also like to split a salad or choose between white wine sautéed mushrooms and Provoleta, a serving of grilled provolone cheese.
But if you love shellfish you won’t want to miss our seafood starters, such as the marinated octopus, Pulpo La Rivera. We sauté the mollusk tender in olive oil with potatoes and a savory seasoning of garlic, parsley, and paprika.
Happy hour and cocktails
And did you know we celebrate happy hour in our bar all day, every Sunday? Show up a little early for dinner to enjoy drink specials, including 4 dollar glasses of our Argentinian house wines, and 8 dollar martinis. We stock a full bar and feature several specialty cocktails, including pitchers of our house sangria, as well as South American favorites caipirinhas and mojitos!
Live music starting at 6 pm
If you are planning on an evening celebration, you will be in for a treat! Starting at 6 pm on Mother's Day, Jaime Rivera will be performing live piano music in the restaurant.
These aren’t just Mother’s Day specials at Puerto La Boca — we offer these delicious dining options seven days a week, and we have live music at the restaurant every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Come on by and visit us in Little Italy, San Diego.
